Dão

Quinta do Corujão, with twelve hectares of vines, is situated near the RioTorto - Seia, in the demarcated region of Dão, making use of this favourable position located between two mountain ranges, Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo.

The protection of these two mountains, combined with a particularly fertile soil, has guaranteed a production of high quality wines for generations. The vineyard is planted with the traditional grape varieties of the region, namely Encruzado and Bical for white; Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro Preto, Trincadeira, Tinta Pinheira and Jaen for red. The vinification takes place in the wine cellar of the Quinta, where the traditional “lagares” and stainless vats are used under controlled temperatures.

The wines of higher quality are aged in French oak barrels. This project began as a dream of António Batista to maintain a tradition of five generations of winemakers producing wines with regional Dão characteristics and integrating modern technologies. This effort and constant search has been recognized and has received prestigious awards of quality for winemaking.
